Initially a facebook group which rapidly attracted over 600 fans, the frequently-updated repository for online shopping's most tasteless, useless, misleading, pointless or self-defeating goods is now a proper, grown-up site of its own. Submit your own product ideas to the committee, vote on this month's crappiest product... the fun stubbornly refuses to stop. Another fine idea enabled by small-media-large!

Pride of the Clyde Success

s-m-l has achieved a remarkable 10.76% conversion rate on behalf of its client Pride of the Clyde Coaches. More specifically, two months' goal monitoring (Aug-Oct 09) has revealed that nearly 11% of all visitors to this site complete and submit a Booking Enquiry via the forms coded into a fully validated site structure.

A new s-m-l site for iCAN, the public organisation charged with networking arts for asylum seekers and refugees in Glasgow will be launched at the (very happening) Trongate 103 venue, Merchant City on 20 October. The site is poised on the starting blocks right now, and - amonst other things - will form a collaorative, interactive calendar for intercultural events across Scotland. Full details will be posted pre-launch.

A logo and identity for the organisation responsible for promoting Gaelic arts and culture in the Central Belt. s-m-l is also currently creating the new AL website, which will act as a user-and-contributor managed hub for the Central Scotland Gaelic cultural events calendar, broadcasting this data across mailing lists and social media.

s-m-l have just completed visuals for the new touring show based on Jonathan Watson's legendary BBC football satires. Mr Watson personally insisted that s-m-l rip half his face off to reveal the terrifyingly efficient cyborg which lies underneath. He's a nice bloke, into the bargain.

Following the success of the Roundhouse Ditto event, small-media-large has been invited to contribute an audio-visual piece as part of Ditto's slot at this year's Latitude Festival. Two works on the themes of 'enchantment' and 'disenchantment' are being prepared comprising films by Lex Lamb and Sophie Stubbs, music by Ventilator and performance at the event by Lex Lamb with a vocal by Ian McKenzie. youtube links previewing the piece will become available over the next few weeks...

Ditto Performance

The official small-media-large piece for the first Ditto event at the Camden Roundhouse was a thrill, and apparently a big success. The film and performance (based on a text from Kurt Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse 5' was watched by an audience of thousands online, as well as the select delegation present at the venue itself. Thanks are very much due to Mike Wilson and Phillip Long for involving s-m-l in the whole project, and to Ian McKenzie for delivering such a sterling vocal performance on the night.

Religion vs. Science in about 200 key dates from the Big Bang to the present day. Seen in proportion to a Saturn V rocket, naturally.

small-media-large has enjoyed a long and fascinating relationship with the mighty Wee Stories, and their new site represents the latest stage of that relationship. The design elements were sliced roughly out of sheets of white paper, scanned, then reassembled as part of a project whose content is being entirely managed by the company. The site will allow WS to maintain a database of venues integrated to a live events calendar, as well as Google Maps, a mailing list management system and news feed... expect this one to grow and grow.

Representing the advanced progression from levels A-C, this CD-ROM presents the last two stages of the primary science curriculum in complex, intuitive interactivity over 74 different exercises for optional Smartboard and Promethean interfaces. Illustrated by the wonderful Vicki Gausden and designed, programmed and packaged by small-media-large, the course will be reaching Gaelic schools very soon. Structured around a fully-fledged content management system, the site owner can edit, create, reorder and configure all text, image, news feed and video podcast content via a secured browser interface. This enables a huge catalogue of books to be maintained and manipulated whilst remaining totally searchable by the user. Rather lovely design, too...

An identity and brochure for Balfour Kilpatrick's corporate responsibility programme. Clear colour-keying and succinct icons convey the three strands of the ethical and sustainability activities of one of the largest UK service organisations.

Part of the challenge was to deliver a more organic feel within a rigorous corporate identity.

The brochure, though mainly distributed via pdf, was also produced in physical form - a heavy screenprint look and blocks of the keying colours on chlorine-free, tactile board conveys a people-oriented and down-to-earth message.
